Diatribe is a three-man operation consisting of J-Note (Justin Singer), Epitome (Neel Sharma), and Soda Pop (Graeme Williams). Originating in the back of a high school English class by Epitome and former member Last Child, Diatribe has fittingly developed into a sturdy triangle of three ambitious talents. With J-Note focusing on lyrics/management, Epitome on lyrics/production, and Soda production/engineering, the group interweavingly straddles the spectrum of solid record-making aesthetics.

Founding member Epitome (pronounced Epp-uh-Tome) displays his veteran lyricism with a halting confidence and sly spark of alternative perspective. Sculpting verses out of equal parts battle-rap, humor, and witticism, he offers a sarcastic charm that deems irresistable to listeners in any corner of the hip-hop universe and beyond.Longstanding member J-Note discovered his exspressive lyrical avenue while studying poetry at Fort Lewis University, thus propelling him into the realm of spoken word and ultimately graduating to a full residence as emcee in Diatribe. Whether reflecting on the stresses of seeking success or chewing out hordes of disposable emcees, his unique style can flip from a silky magnetism to a venomous bite without warning.

Though only recently secured as a full-time member, Soda Pop has served as a somewhat ”silent partner” of the group for some time now. Excelling in the production and engineering end of Diatribe’s recipe, he favors a more chameleonic production style that attempts to bridge gaps between the various sub-genres of hip-hop.

Hailing from the north side of Chicago, Sharma and Singer united as Diatribe in the summer of 2005 and enlisted Williams as they undertook the challenge of their first (official) release,“The Roaring 20’s.” Since then, Diatribe has gained momentum in Chicago’s hip hop scene via shows at several of the city’s prime venues, including The Empty Bottle, Double Door, Abby Pub, The Mix, Second City, Kinetic Playground, and the Mess Hall, among other local hot spots.

Despite performing at primarily Chicago venues, Diatribe’s name has spread nationwide playing alongside a number of other major names as well as by garnering a sponsorship from international fashion juggernaut LRG Clothing. Over the past two years, Diatribe has shared the stage with the likes of Ugly Duckling, Sadat X, Black Sheep, DJ Abilities, DJ Z-Trip, Aceyalone, Gift of Gab, J.U.I.C.E., Kevin Coval (Def Poet), Typical Cats, and Sole.
