FLOWERS was written for a mentor of mine, a person who walked the walk with banjo in hand and lyric book in back pocket in pursuit of peace: the one and only Pete Seeger. He taught me that there is no separation between an artist and his or her art; an artist will always look at the world differently but it's up to them to take that step forward and create it. Thus in this piece "Flowers" I began to create the world I would like to see. My take on his classic "Where have all the Flowers Gone" comes from the perspective of a younger generation in hopes of reaching all generations and making the world a better place, which is something Pete mastered so well.
