Lyrics:

Sugar, it’s hot today,
so very hot today.
Can you feel it?
Can you smell it?
Can you hear that tank a-creakin’ away?
When the sheet iron blows
and the sweet mire flows,
you got a real flash flood
and it's not mud.
You got two million gallons of molasses 'to go.’

So many men swept out,
and buildings too.
That's what a two story wave of molasses will do.
It's a short ride
on the dark tide,
in a suffocating candy glaze.

Sorry you came, sorry you tried.
Sorry you had to find the sweetest way to die.

So now you're immersed.
Struggling makes it worse.
They were carried away in a syrup, brown,
back in 1919 Boston town.

Sorry you came, sorry you tried.
Sorry you had to find the sweetest way to die.

Sugar, there is something you don’t see every day.
