Profile
In 2004 Rue Morgue Magazine raved about The Terror Cycle, upstart orchestral project Dark Asylum?s first venture into the Halloween Market. Dark Asylum?s 2006 follow up retained the orchestral ambiance and neoclassical harmonies of The Terror Cycle and pushed the Goth-Orchestral genre into new territory. In 2004, Dark Asylum pioneered the use of EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomenon, also known as Paranormal Audio Recordings) into professional Haunted Attraction market.

marks a conscious return to the Giallo and Splatter soundtracks which lie at the heart of modern horror mythos. Drawing inspiration from Fulci standard Fabio Frizzi and the various incarnations of Goblin, elicits a nostalgic sense of horror. Loosely based on the narrative of Mark Z. Danielewski's enigmatic epic House of Leaves, Dark Asylum's serves as a soundtrack to madness, death and paradox. While the EVP took a back seat to dynamics, offers the most mature and engaging incarnation of Dark Asylum's efforts.

Sounds Like
Fully realized orchestral music with the ambiance and unnatural sounds from months of EVP recording in local cemeteries. Neo-classical harmony with sonata and ternary forms. Dark Asylum is a pleasing, and frightening, combination of traditional orchestration with modern sound sampling and editing techniques.
