DESCRIPTION:
Cyril Bradley Rootham (1875-1938) was director of music at St John's College Cambridge from 1901 until his early death in 1938. From 1912 Rootham was also conductor of the Cambridge University Musical Society, and in 1914 he took on a Lectureship in Music at the University. His pupils included Arthur Bliss and Armstrong Gibbs.

Composed by Rootham in 1905, this romantic and intense work is in a single movement with frequent tempo changes and lasts just over 12 minutes.
