It's Just The Time Between

Luke 23:55-56 - The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed Joseph and saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it. Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment. (NIV)

The calendar today for the northern hemisphere says "spring", but the landscape in many places looks like winter.

When the skies are so gray, many struggle with loneliness.

It's just the time between.

I know that one day, the snow will melt and the crocuses will bloom again.

It's just the time between.

Today is Saturday, the day between Good Friday and Easter. I think of the palms that swayed in Jerusalem, the olive trees in the garden, and the cross, where Jesus made His sacrifice for us. I think of Easter and of the new life which flows to us from His resurrection. I also think of the grief and loneliness that His disciples went through in the time between.

The snow will pass, just as the time of Jesus' suffering passed, and our seasons of heartache will pass too.

Let us find meaning in the times of anguish as we struggle with the time between. For God came to this dormant earth in Jesus Christ His Son, Who gave us comfort through the Holy Spirit to warm our hearts and give us faith to overcome the sufferings of the times between.

Psalm 30:5 - Weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning. (NIV)

1 Peter 5:6 - Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. (NIV)

Dear Father in heaven, we give You thanks for the gift of Your Son and for the warmth of the Holy Spirit Who indwells our hearts and quietens the loneliness, in the times between. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
