DESCRIPTION: I first discovered Chip Taylor many years ago when I was watching a mid 70's crime film called "The Catamount Killing". I saw an actor who looked an awful lot like John Voight, and wondered who it was. When the credits rolled, I saw that the actor was named Chip Taylor and looked him up. Not only did he turn out to be John Voight's brother, but I discovered he was also the songwriter behind the famous songs "Wild Thing" and "Angel of the Morning". I didn't follow up on my discovery and forgot about it. Flash forward to last year and I'm watching a terrible action movie called "The Exterminator", and I can't help but thinking "That actor looks like Chip Taylor". When the credits rolled, I saw that it was in fact Robert Ginty, but I noticed something else. That something was an incredibly beautiful song playing over the end credits. I waited until the end of the credits to see who it was. It was Chip Taylor. I knew then that I had to hear more, so I immersed myself in his work. This is the opening song off his first solo album "Gasoline". It's considered more of a "rock" effort that his subsequent country albums, but it's pretty laid back. This is not the song from the exterminator, but it's equally nice.
