Cartilage was a Finnish Death Metal band, from Vaasa, formed in 1991. On their founding year released "Encapsulated Rehearsal" and "In Godly Flesh" demos, of which the first one was only self-financed. 1992 they got signed to the Spanish Drowned records and appeared on a split-album with Swedish Altar. Their side of the album was called "The Fragile Concept of Affection". Unfortunately band splitted-up soon after split-release.
Three of the former members of Cartilage, formed a Black Metal band Enochian Crescent and before that carried out gothic/doom Death metal project Wings, releasing only one album and ,and a progressive thrash metal band Misantropia. Former vocalist ,Mikki Salo, owns Finnish Woodcut records.
Mind-blowing Grindcore drummer ,Kai Hahto, continued he's succesful carrier with another local Death metal band Vomiturition. Later he also participated in great bands like Rotten Sound and Wintersun.

This track is from their split-album with Swedish Altar "The Fragile Concept of Affection"

Lyrics :

The fear within, a darkened chasm of memory
a burial ground where my flesh is bound

Scarred mind like stitches on a dead man's back
Rotten illusions of illusions... rotten

Embalmed mind, thousand decades of dream
I lust for death and peace at last
* i cast my my wordly flesh aside
to greet the spirits of those who died
and on my funeral no-oned cried
'cause all the pity i denied

chorus:
lost souls haunt me till
the dawn that i watch
and mourn on my open grave
i've sworn an oath impure

infinity calls...
obscenities can't shadow
ethereal bliss...
incisions and i'll join thee

*"i look upon the brightening colors of morning sky
and wonder why it seems that i don't fit in this world
[this world]
i have this urge to learn something new
anything that'll just quench this thirsty
[why do i watch the dawn]
i've found out, that in life there are no real answers
so i'll just have to die to attain knowledge to my... pain!!
