CARRIE ENGDAHL - YOU'LL NEVER WIN - Video
PUBLISHED:  Sep 25, 2010
DESCRIPTION:
arrie Engdahl writes songs about love, longing, hope and disappointment. From an obsession with the movie Annie and mimicking Shirley Temple, to Madonna in the 80's and Grunge in the 90's, it all led up to her finding Outlaw Country and Folk music, a little short of a decade ago, conveniently around the same time she started writing songs. The allure of music is a mystery even after all these years, but all of these influences play a part in Carrie's songwriting and it just works. Blending her pop sensibility with her folk spirit and country tones, Carrie is as versatile in her emotions as she is with her music. She will take onlookers down to their deepest sorrows with bittersweet songs of heartbreak, only to bring them back up with her playful stage patter. Carrie delivers her material with such sincerity that audiences are quick to emote and relate with the music. A simple, yet rare trait that has made her a crowd favorite wherever she plays.

Carrie has shared stages with such songwriters as, Steve Poltz, Beaver Nelson, Scrappy Jud Newcomb and Ana Egge. She has participated in festivals in Austin, Texas that also featured the likes of Jim Boggia, Tommy Womack and Michelle Shocked. She was one of the first artists to be featured on The Digital Café Tour (www.digitalcafetour.com). Carrie's band and song "Making Me Sad", was recently featured in the upcoming indie film Under The Raven's Wing. Her first release, an EP titled 'Another Sunday Morning' is available on CDbaby, Itunes, etc. Carrie has performed all over the New York metropolitan area (The Living Room, Joe's Pub, The Continental, Luna Lounge, etc) Chattanooga, TN (Barking Legs, Living Room Concerts), Austin, TX (South by South Austin, Café Caffeine, Beck on Congress, The Hideout, South by Soup Fest at the local soup kitchen, South by Sunset Valley), San Antonio, TX (The Red Room, SA Indie Fest), Racine, WI (Yardarm), San Diego, CA (Java Joe's), etc.
