THE LITTLE GIRLS TWO NEW CDs: Thank Heaven for ValleyPOP and Today…and Yesterday !! Get them both now on ValleyPOP Records!

Since they started out on stage doing Monty Python sketches as teens, singing sisters Caron and Michele Maso knew performing was in their blood. The upstart siblings played with several lineups of musicians until forming one of the most exciting bands that came out of the early 1980s Los Angeles new wave music scene. They called themselves “The Little Girls” and had their first hit in 1981 with “The Earthquake Song,” a track that American Bandstand dancer and model Serenia picked as her featured song for several weeks on the popular show. Their music was a staple of radio station KROQ-FM’s famous Rodney on the ROQ show. Soon after, with their follow-up single, “How To Pick Up Girls,” the Little Girls were forever embedded in music history as the video was one of the first ever played on MTV.

During live shows, The Little Girls’ energy was contagious as concert-goers danced along to their catchy, guitar-driven tunes as long as they were able to keep pace with Caron and Michele’s electric stage performance. The Little Girls were on their way up, sharing the stage with acts like The Plimsouls, Bow Wow Wow and the Boomtown Rats and the Pretenders.

Like many bands from the era, however, The Little Girls broke up in 1985, but they would return 19 years later thanks to a reunion for a local school benefit concert at the Santa Monica Playhouse. They decided to record together again.

Fast Forward to 2009: New wave is back with a vengeance and the Little Girls release two new CDs: one with the classic songs that made The Little Girls unforgettable and the other with new music and rare recordings from the mid-1980s.

80s fans will love Thank Heaven for ValleyPOP, packed with re-releases and previously unreleased versions of The Little Girls’ Thank Heaven EP and The Clear Album, containing early smash hits like “The Earthquake Song,” “How to Pick Up Girls,” “Left Without a Real Kiss” and more. There are also a few surprises, including a clip from a live interview with the legendary Rodney on the ROQ, and Richard Blade’s introduction of the premiere of The Little Girls cover of the Dave Clark 5’s “Anyway You Want It” -- featuring Clem Burke and Nigel Harrison of Blondie on drums and bass. The Blondie rhythm section also plays on tracks, “Not a Perfect World” and “Really Want to Be With You.” Thank Heaven for ValleyPOP is the kind of CD that sunny days, beaches and convertibles were made for.

Today…and Yesterday features all previously unreleased tracks, including captivating new music from The Little Girls. This CD is full of great songs, from the feel-good track “Upswing,” written by guitarist Kip Brown, to the more sultry rock harmonies of Caron and Michele in “Come Back to Me” and “Suzy Clone.” The Little Girls show some modern flair with the acoustic flavor of “Love Song” and honor their L.A. New Wave roots on retro tracks like “Movin’ On”. The second half of Today…and Yesterday is devoted to several previously-unreleased demos from the early 80’s as well as some special bonus clips and answering machine recording fun.

Together, Thank Heaven for ValleyPOP and Today…and Yesterday are the definitive anthology of one of the most enjoyable and dynamic bands of the 1980s and the present.
