Alister is recognised as one of the most exciting and original improvising pianists and composers in contemporary Australian Jazz Music. He is also a distinguished film music composer. In Australia the Alister Spence Trio has been playing dates in Australia to promote Mercury with some new material creeping into the repertoire as well. These have been great gigs with more to come. 2008 is looking very exciting with plans well underway for tours to Japan and Europe. Hopefully a return to Canada won't be too far round the corner. And the music for another recording is being developed. This should be recorded by the end of the year. Out in 2008. As a special extra project, the trio and Carl Dewhurst (guitar) have also recorded the music for the amazing singer Paul Capsis' next CD 'Everybody Wants To Touch Me', to be released on Black Yak Records in October. Alister has been working as pianist and musical director for Paul for the last year or so. Alister currently has other dates coming up with the Australian Art Orchestra, Wanderlust and Phillip Johnston's The Coolerators as well as working on the music for two documentaries and a short film. Ivan Sen's new documentary 'A Sister's Love' was released earlier this year with a soundtrack by Alister and Ivan (a.k.a 'Mystery Guest'). Lloyd is busy as ever with many projects that include putting out another catholics CD and an upcoming Necks tour. Toby is similarly busy; in a myriad of bands including the World According to James and the Sandy Evans Trio.
