Sosiego (jam with Camelia Jade) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Oct 24, 2011
DESCRIPTION:
I made up the structure of this song, and then Camelia Jade (http://www.cameliajade.com) - an incredible musician from Seattle - played the charango along with me. The charango looks sort of like a ukelele except it's made in South America from an armadillo shell. Camelia is a gorgeous guitar player too, but even she couldn't play two instruments at once, so I played the guitar part. We set up a mic in the middle of the room and played until we both figured the song was over. There are some rough parts, but that's what you get when you record an unstructured jam session. We recorded this in January 2010 in a sleepy suburb of Seattle.

"Sosiego" is the Spanish word for "quiet". Camelia thought this was a good name for this song, and she had a much better translation. Alas I am but a white girl from Canada so I'll have to take her word for it!

I took this photo in February 2011 in Kensington Market in Toronto of a shop window.
