A Jazz, Period. Film
This spellbinding rendition of the standard 'Good Morning Heartache' begins with an impromptu prelude tapped from featured tenor man Eric Wyatt's book of originals. The tune makes a later appearance in this series of duets, but here serves as an intro to set the stage with a montage of street scenes. New York mainstay Wyatt joins Montreal saxophonist Al McLean for the moody duet in Harlem, New York, at Bill's Place Jazz Club.
The recording is part of a series hosted by Al McLean, and demonstrates both a strong chemistry between the two masterful players, as well as their love for John Coltrane, who is clearly paid homage in the performance. Each player approaches the material in his own way, evoking the essence of Coltrane, but still sounding unique and current.
