He also discovered the Grammy Award winning and multi-platinum artist Usher, and inked a deal with Untouchable Records, a relationship which resulted in the signing of R&B vocalist Donell Jones. Yet, Reid not only had an eye for artist but for producers as well. He was also instrumental in introducing the talented artist and producer Jermaine Dupri to the LaFace family as well as R&B producer Teddy Bishop and Soulshock and Karlin, they all worked on various projects for Reid such as TLC, Usher and Toni Braxton. Eventually Reid introduced Soulshock and Karlin to Clive Davis(Chief Creative Officer of BMG North America), the production duo and Davis still today have a great working relationship. During his brief stint at Atlantic Records Reid had the honor of working with the late great Mr. Ahmet Urtegan founder of Atlantic Records and R&B legend Gerald Levert.
Reid has continued to find ways to expose deserving talent. He produced and created a television series called B Street Live. B street Live appeared in it's first season on Turner South, which was the largest regional cable network in the United States and is currently being considered for national distribution.
During it's first season, B Street Live had performances by some of the music industries brightest stars such as Cee Lo Green. Reid also partnered with KFC to create the national and well known " Hitmaker" contest part of it's pride 360 program. Contestants vied for a home recording studio along with the inclusion on a nationally sold and distributed CD. The compilation CD was sold in retail outlets along with ringtones. The proceeds of these sales were given to Little Kids Rock, a non-profit organization that provides mentorship and music instruments. B Street Entertainment is a multifaceted company that handles music, television and film, artist and producer management as well as music and television consulting.
Reid is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio who attended Miami University. He got a
taste of what the entertainment business was like early on while promoting celebrity events in his hometown. He was also a serious collector and consumer of music.
