The recording was made for her 1963 Philips EP "Rita Reys Sings Bossa Nova", which also includes Desafinado, Ain't He Sweet and One Note Samba.

"Brazil", known originally as "Aquarela do Brasil" (Watercolor of Brazil), is one of the most famous Brazilian bossa nova songs. It was composed by Ary Barroso in 1939, with English words by Bob Russell. The original Portuguese lyrics were also by Barroso.

In 1981 Rita would record an entire album with bossa nova songs, with orchestra arranged and conducted by Rogier van Otterloo: Rita Reys Sings Antonio Carlos Jobim.
