Magma - De Futura bass cover - Video

DESCRIPTION:
So, first things first, sorry about the stuttering video, the software I usually use wouldn't allow me to capture this entire song, the file being too big (over 6Go) . I had to use another program for this one, which explains that. Sound is allright, I guess that's what primarily matters. By the way, this time the distorded sound is volontary.

Now about this song and the band Magma. I was in Paris last week to see Magma live for the 3rd time. As usual, such a powerful moment... Everytime I go see them I feel like I am reborn. This band is pretty unique, it's very hard to define their style. This song is the one that got me interrested in this band, and from then on my views on music totally changed. It was really a revelation. I highly recommend you check them out, and fortunately some nice youtubers uploaded several songs, so you can easily listen to some of their songs. Be careful though, you might not like it, but it may also shake the basis of your musical world.

Now about the cover; well, it's a damn hard song to cover, the bass and drums seem like they are always fighting against each other, both totally frantic. The tempo changes several times during the song, there is no clear scale around which to play, the drummer Christian Vander goes into frenzy mode with crazy drum breaks... So in other words you pretty much have no real landmarks. So I hope you will forgive the screwups on my part, but hey with a song that long and that crazy, it's hard to come up with a perfect result.

I guess that's pretty much all I have to say, though I will insist that if you don't know Magma yet, you check out some of their songs on Youtube, try the classic Mekanik Destruktiw Kommandoh for example. It's not easy to enter their universe and some never pass the front door but once you're in, prepare for a long journey.

My all time favorite band, and one of my favorite songs from them.

A vie, à mort, à après. HAMTAI !

Merci à Christian Vander pour Magma et à Jannick Top pour ce morceau.

P.S. : Volume may be a bit low for this video, you can bump up the volume in your speakers, I promise there are no screamers at the end. :) Oh and by the way, I don't think there are any tabs for this song, this is all found by ear.
