♫ Willie Jones ♫ Blue Suede Shoes ♫ Chasing Cameron ♫ 5/9/14 ♫ - Video
PUBLISHED:  May 13, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
Willie Jones sings Blue Suede Shoes in tribute to Elvis Presley, who began his career on this very stage, at the Louisiana Hayride, in 1954. This was a night to celebrate the restoration of the Municipal Auditorium in Shreveport, home of the Hayride, where many notables began their successful music careers. This stage has been stomped on by the likes of Elvis, Hank Williams, Kitty Wells, David Houston Johnny Cash, Faron Young, Slim Whitman, Johnny Horton, Jim Reeves, and so many more. Even Minnie Pearl! There are more videos up of Willie from this night, as well as of Shreveport natives Dez Duron and Cole Vosbury. Kenny Wayne Shepherd is also a native, and his father MC'd this event. The gal in the red hat you see in this video is Maggie Warwick. She was a performer on the Louisiana Hayride during the days of Elvis, performing under the name she had then, Margaret Lewis. Maggie also wrote a hit song, called "RECONSIDER ME", along with Mira Smith. You can find Maggie's version, and the versions of others, on YouTube. ( http://youtu.be/c-vVPwN75Xw ) They also wrote MOUNTAIN OF LOVE, which was a big hit for David Houston. Check all of my videos for up-and-coming artists from Shreveport, and share what you like! Thanks!
