DESCRIPTION:
Musicians do not have the power to change the world, but they have the power to change the way we experience it.

When my close friends, Amy and Derrick Ross (Nowhere Man and a Whiskey Girl), passed away they left behind several unfinished songs. One particular song, called "Oh Up Above," started as poem written by Derrick and was eventually set to music by Amy. Upon hearing this song for the first time, I found it to be absolutely captivating; I could not stop listening to it.

I have recently developed a very close relationship with Amy's family, and together we created this video for "Oh Up Above." The work is inspired by my all-too brief, yet everlasting friendship with two of the most beautiful people I could ever hope to meet.

Nowhere Man and a Whiskey Girl will always be remembered for relentlessly encouraging others to express themselves through music. The three of us spent many nights together singing, creating, and enjoying the music that we all loved. This project was my way of collaborating with them one final time.

The only recorded version of this song is a work-tape type demo. I took that version to New Orleans and recorded my lyrics and vocals with my good friend, Robin Clabby.
