Let's not say that Biof (bee-off) is an old timer, but he started beatmaking, sampling and crate diggin' at the end of last century.
Way before all these brats :)
He did many collabs with many emcee's, took part in many mixtapes, live, radio shows and freestyles. That was some kind of a golden era, when there was no party without a furious freestyle.
After taking a break from beatmaking in order to produce other artists with his label, StillMuzik, he comes back to work again, armed with his sampler, jewel samples, always vinyl, found by his brother and partner in the label, Adrien.
He finally decides to release his first album, Tour de France. A dusty and vinylistic invitation on a bike, with french music from the 60's, 70's, 80's.
You'll find here some classic french voices as obscure sound illustrations.
Those sounds have been boosted with EPO, steroids, self blood transfused, 12-bit-plugin-massaged, then spat back with the finest boom bap sauce. Good energy to climb mountains without effort (Un peu plus haut, Porte Dorée, Belleville). And then go on the dreamy way down, cycling in the wind (Modern Pop, Sur le chemin de l'école, Le bruit de la Rue).
27 tracks as 27 sounding staging points to get a glimpse of Biof's musical universe : Rich, uncluttered, eclectic, often dark, but always full of hope.


N'allons pas dire que Biof est un old timer, mais il a commencé à beatmaker, à sampler et à cratedigger à la fin du siècle dernier. Bien avant tous ces petits cons :)

Il a multiplié les collaborations avec de nombreux mc's, participé à pléthore de mixtapes, de compiles, de lives, d'émissions de radio, de freestyles. C'était l'époque faste où pas une soirée ne se passait sans un freestyle sauvage.

Après s'être un peu mis en recul du beatmaking pour se consacrer à la production d'artistes avec son label Stillmuzik, il se remet à composer, armé de son sampler. Et des samples joyaux, toujours en vinyle, dénichés par son frère et associé dans le label, Adrien.

Il décide de sortir enfin aujourd'hui son premier album, Tour de France. Une invitation à une ballade à vélo, vinylistique et poussiéreuse de productions française des années 60, 70, 80. On y retrouve des grands noms de la chanson comme d'obscurs vinyles d'illustrations musicales.

Ces sons ont été regonflés à l'EPO, aux stéroïdes, auto-transfusés, massés au plugins 12-Bits, le tout recraché à la meilleure sauce boom bap. De quoi grimper des sommets sans se fatiguer (Un peu plus haut, Porte Dorée, Bellelville), et faire une descente rêveuse, roulant cheveux au vent (Modern Pop, Sur le chemin de l'école, Le bruit de la Rue).
27 titres tels 27 étapes sonores pour un aperçu de l'univers musical riche, épuré, varié, éclectique, souvent sombre, mais toujours plein d'espoir, de Biof.
