After Maz says "The saber. Take it.", there's a brief pause, followed by a barely audible female whisper that's not Maz, seeming to say "It's Ben." before Rey gasps and stands up on her feet.

Best listened with headphones. Take care though as the volume has been increased, so adjust your volumes accordingly.

Listen and judge for yourself.

So current contenders for the spoken words are:

1. It’s Ben
2. It’s back
3. It’s there

Of the three, what I think make more sense are 1 and 3. Also if you listen carefully, at least to me anyway, the second spoken words starts with a ‘B’ followed by an ‘e’.

“It’s Ben” would make the most sense because of course, it is in direct conflict with Rey’s answer as to who would come back for her. When Maz told her someone could still return to her, she said “Luke” and that voice could be the Force trying to tell her “It’s Ben” who was going to come back for her. And lo and behold, who arrives 5 minutes later?

Interestingly, in the novel, Maz actually says “But there is someone who still could [return]. With your help.” (make of that what you will)

Another thing is that it could be “It’s Ben’s.” After Maz says “The saber. Take it.” the Force could be telling Rey that the saber once belonged to Ben Solo, and we could put this as evidence that Kylo was telling the truth. The saber belonged to him, and not because of some sense of entitlement.

For the “It’s back” line, I’ve got nothing unless I do a bit of reaching. That maybe Rey encountered the saber in the past. But with the facts stated in Bloodline, this is unlikely.

For the “It’s there” line, it’s a simple really. Like Maz said “The light, it’s always been there.” However, like I mentioned earlier, to my hearing, the second word sounded like a ‘B’ rather than a ‘TH’ though this is understandably confusing as ‘TH’, ‘B’ and even ‘V’ sound alike.

Also, the voice does not sound like Maz, but it’s definitely female. To me, it actually sounds a bit like Rey. I could be wrong of course.

Whatever the case, the fact of the matter is, the voice, the whisper exists. We may not agree on what was spoken, but the voice is definitely there.
