Samantha Horwill interview at Real World Studios - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jan 31, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
Singer-songwriter Samantha Horwill steps forward to be Caught in the light, summoning a fearless debut album that establishes a new song writing voice.

Recorded in the summer of 2012 at Peter Gabriel's Real World studios and mixed by Mark Nevers at Beech House Recording (Lampchop), this modern folk release fuses memorable melodies with candidly emotive lyrics. The result is an intense journey into Samantha's beliefs, built on authentic song writing craft.

Samantha's journey has taken her from front-person of rock outfit Jane Doe in her native South Africa to becoming a United Kingdom-based singer-songwriter. Compelling live performances in the U.S. and in Europe, EP recordings and radio play have honed the style and voice woven into Samantha's first full length collection of songs.

Featuring Samantha's song writing partner Richard Cruden, the album's recording applied a steadfast faith in live musical takes, unvarnished performances and honest lyrics to capture themes of fate and self-determination. 'Caught in the light' is a musical arrival and an artistic statement of intent: you make your own destiny, so work hard, be kind, be fair and be brave.

'Caught in the Light' was released in physical and online formats on 29th October 2012 and was preceded by the single 'Do You Remember'. The single's accompanying video features performance footage of Samantha and her band and is available now.
