I took a McCorkell ship to New York city,
The sharks seemed to leave us at it's shore,
There only was one reason for me leavin,

An Gorta Mor!

When I first got in to New York Harbour,
I made my mark and told them my name,
They took to a place called Staten Island,

Thirty days quarantine!

Oh Mother tonight hear me callin,
Let the wind blow as far as it can blow,
And carry my voice across the ocean,

To Inishowen!

Then a "runner" told me heaven was Manhattan,
He took my coin, took my bag as well,
He swore his boarding house would take some beatin

Then he danced me into hell!

On the steel factory gates and shop windows,
Signs read, "No Irish Need Apply"!
For here its all the rage for them to hate us,

You can see it in their eyes!

Oh Mother tonight hear me callin,
Let the wind blow as far as it can blow,
And carry my voice across the ocean,

To Inishowen!

There's a dirty band of rats they call "Know -Nothing's"
Who would burn us in our beds where we lie,
They control the docks and the 5 points,
So there's nothing left to do but organise!

I don't know
He don't look Navaho
And the one spitting at me
Don't look Cherokee
But the vigilante man
Is screaming it's his land!
I just wish to Christ I was back in Inishowen

No No No No No No!

No No No No No No !

Oh Inishown.
