This is my first video snippet I've been able to record of Barry Richman since I first met him in 1988. Barry is a musician's musician, most of the greatest player's have either played with him or they certainly know of him...Barry is a legend. How many guitar greats can say they have had the honor to be asked by the great Les Paul to set in w/ him playing straight jazz at the Iridium Jazz Club in NYC? Besides being one of my all-time favorite guitarists, Barry is an unbelievably humble guy, who could be playing with anyone he wanted....and he has, but he sticks close to home, playing the local Atlanta music scene where I've probably gone to see him around 100 or so times over the past 25 years. Besides covering classic 70's rock/blues/soul like Allman Brothers to Hendrix, Stevie Ray, Santana, Robin Trower, Cream, Marvin Gaye, Bill Withers, etc., and his own original compositions, most of which are best described as jazz/rock fusion, Barry has phenomenal jazz chops and I know of no other rock guitarist that plays such interesting and complex jazz chord voicing's behind a singer. The Barry Richman Band is not your typical bar cover band. A night of listening to Barry is loaded with a wide variety of rock, soul, blues, incredible guitar tone...clean or distorted and totally original solos.
