Belle Epoque - Bamalama - Video

DESCRIPTION:
The number of times I have picked this album up from a sale bin and put it back is just crazy.

But being seduced by the pink Carrerre records label and the reasonable condition it was in, I finally chanced it.

Belle Epoque, or sometime La Belle Epoque were famous for the disco version of Black is Black. Essentially a one woman show with a revolving door of "backup" singers and dancers, the band lasted 3 records from 1977 through to 1979. Bamalama was released in 1978 and I have absolutely no concept about how it was received and if anyone has even heard this at all.

Yes I have committed the cardinal sin of force fading the track before it actually finished. The song is broken up into a series of medleys, with a sort of Live adjunct at the end that is best left in the aforementioned sale bin.

Not really sure what Bamalama means if anything, could be some kind of French jargon? But the rest of the lyrics are pretty surreal. As far as I can tell its about sniffing cocaine and getting into fights on the dancefloor.

Anyhoo, there is something about the beat that is mesmerising, and the electro breakdown tracklisted as b) Taste of Destruction is actually pretty cool.

So lets relive this slice of lesser known disco. Let me know if it actually got you dancing! Enjoy.
