DESCRIPTION:
Genesis Live is the first live album released by progressive rock band Genesis in 1973.
The band had not planned to release a live album at the time, but a decision of the Charisma Records label resulted in the release of the album while the band was recording Selling England by the Pound in mid-1973. This record represents the only legitimate concert recording of the band (with Peter Gabriel on vocals) in 25 years.
The tracks were recorded at De Montfort Hall, Leicester, on February 25, 1973 (except for "Return of the Giant Hogweed", recorded in Manchester the day before), while the band was on tour to support the album Foxtrot.
A digitally remastered version was released on CD in 1994 by Virgin Records in Europe and Atlantic Records in the United States.
