As well as you know someone, it is always a tough call when it comes to birthday presents. On May 24, 2011, Bob turns the calendar back to reveal an accumulation of seventy years. Peter Parcek has combined reinvention of Bob Dylan's music in a blue light and wrapped it all up in time for the birthday celebrations.


For the music world, there are few names known better than Bob Dylan. His songs have been released and reinterpreted. The words are meaningful when you know where to look and cryptic until a translation comes into view.





The visions that others have for Bob's music sometimes gives you a better idea of how the story lines play out. No matter your feelings about his music, Bob is hard to separate from the rock era. We all know Bob Dylan.

Knowing that giving butted in line ahead of receiving, Peter Parcek has offered up his versions of "She Belongs to Me', Leopard Skin Pill Box Hat, "Beyond Here Lies Nothing" and "It Takes A Lot to Laugh, It Takes A Train to Cry" as a pay-what-you-like on his download on his website.

Peter lives in a world of modern blues. He verifies citizenship on 'Pledging My Time', the host E.P. for his Dylan tribute foursome. On "Leopard Skin Pill Box Hat", Parcek reaches down into the blues, organ swells and solid backbeat offer foundation for the vocal effects and guitars bends that course through the track. "She Belongs to Me" sweeps in on an Americana arrangement, echoing percussion and chords wrap around determined rhythms and guitar slides, sprinkling delta blues over prairie dust. Sound rises like heat off the intro to "It Takes A Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry". Peter Parcek's vocal reading of the song is as straight as a beacon of light. The music swirls around him as the voice cuts through a wall of sound, lending commitment to the narrators words.

'Pledging My Time' is a nice stepping stone for Peter Parcek. It supports the success of his "Mathematics of Love' by offerings personal visions on songs by another artist in a sister style. It also makes for a very nice birthday present. Happy Birthday, Bob!
