Released is the new 'Aziz' album 'Rusholme Rock' mastered at Abbey road also available online & in record shops.
THE REASON
Well quite simply a new form of music that Aziz calls 'Asian Blues'. Maybe one day the category will open in the record shops but here's where you heard it first.
Get ready for Asian/blues guitars, voices and rhythms merged into songs and instrumentals written by Aziz with maybe a few co-writes with his former band mate Ian Brown from 'The Stone Roses'.
THE LINE UP
After touring the electric band with one of the best UK rhythm sections around, Aziz had to rethink the line up to maintain or surpass the great standards set by Mike Joyce and Andy Rourke (Ex-The Smiths).
Accompanied by one of UK's finest Indian classical artists from Leeds it's a complete psychedelic guitar/tabla fest' that sounds like five guys not two !
Dalbir Singh Rattan - On Tabla
Aziz Ibrahim - On Vocals, guitars and Sarod
Aziz Ibrahim: The Manchester lad. Singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer. The Stone Roses recognized unique talent when they asked him to join and Ian Brown squeezed 2 top twenty singles and 4 gold selling albums in collaborations with him. Paul Weller has co-written 3 songs with him for his no 1 album in the UK album charts 'Sonik Kicks'.
Guitarist? You've never heard anything like it!
Dalbir Singh Rattan: The perfect counter foil, is Birmingham's finest. Chosen for his aggressive style, although classically trained, he is the 'Punk rocker' of Tabla". Young, gifted and tons of attitude . "The kid's a full drum kit".
THE LOW DOWN
Opening for 'The Corel' they then rocked Morocco, East Jerusalem, Pakistan, Libya, Syria and India in conjunction with the British Council. 2004 saw them play 'MIDEM', 'Go North', 'In The City' and returning to Glastonbury with their own night (Aziz & The Crazy 88's). After rocking the WOMAD festival 'Aziz' supported Ian Brown on the UK mini tour Nov 2004. 2005 began with a UK tour starting Feb 3rd followed by a support tour with Durruti Column and an Aziz Ibrahim invite to Buckingham Palace from Her Majesty The Queen as well as running they're own night in the Glastonbury week in June. Thanks to the British Council they played the 'Rock Out festival' in Chennai, India in July. Late 2005 and 'Aziz' once again support Ian Brown this time on 'The Greatest Tour'. 2006 has been mostly recording but they did find time to open for Richard Ashcroft in Manchester, Paul Weller, perform the BBC Electric Proms and record a BBC Radio 1 Maida Vale Session.
2007 and the boys began with shows in Tunisia in Feb and live radio in March for BBC Asian Network. With the new album nearly in the bag this year will be a busy.
2011 - aziz receives the Ginna award for music at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
2012 Paul Wellers' no 1 UK album includes 3 songs co-written with Aziz Ibrahim.

Some people say 'The White Stripe's' of Mumbai.
