Aria for 'Corrado' from Vivaldi's opera Griselda

with Ensemble Matheus under Jean-Christophe Spinosi
The opera was premiered in Venice at the Teatro San Samuele on May 18, 1735.
The libretto was adapted by Carlo Goldoni from a 1701 Italian libretto by Apostolo Zeno that was based on Giovanni Boccaccio's "The Decameron."
CORRADO:
"La rondinella amante,
lungi dal proprio nio
serba costante e fido
al suo diletto il cor.
Non è possibil mai
cacciar dal proprio petto
il radicato affetto,
il primo dolce amor."
TRANSLATION:
"This loving little swallow
far from his own nest
keeps constant and faithful
to his beloved.
It is never possible
to drive from one's own breast
the deep-seated affection
of the first sweet love."
