performARTS: American Jazz Museum - The Local Show - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jul 19, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
For the past two years, in conjunction with Studio KC Magazine, the performARTS series has turned the spotlight on the metro's best music, theatre, dance , even puppeteers. This week, Randy Mason takes us inside the American Jazz Museum. Since 1997, the museum has hosted music performances, travelling exhibitions and community events in an effort to be the only museum in the world solely focused on the preservation, exhibition and advancement of jazz.

Some good news for music and art fans, Kansas City's 18th & Vine Jazz Festival, the festival formerly known as Rhythm and Ribs, will be back this year on Saturday, October 12. Also, a big new exhibit coming from the Smithsonian called American Sabor: Latinos in U.S. Popular Music opens on August 1 and runs through October 27.
