"I'm Through with Love" by Matt Malneck & Fud Livingston - Video

DESCRIPTION:
This is the first half of my final performance for my first semester at HKU, Utrecht's Conservatory in Utrecht, the Netherlands.

I begin with a short verse of "So this is Love" in Eb major by Mack David, Al Hoffman, and Jerry Livingston. You might know this tune from Walt Disney's Cinderella. Then, I transition straight into "I'm Through with Love" in C major by Matt Malneck and Fud Livingston.

When I was nine years old, my parents signed me up for singing lessons with the neighborhood singing coach. This lady forced me to sing every Disney song imaginable. One of the many Disney songs that I was forced to sing was "So This is Love." My nine-year-old self despised this song. It was about love, it was "girly" and sweet. At that time I really hated lovie-dovie, sweet, girly things. My mom, on the other hand, loved to hear me sing this song. She would ask me over and over to sing, "So This is Love" at home or in front of friends and family. Of course, I could never refuse my mom and I still cannot.

"So This is Love" is dedicated to my Mamma. (Although, I still tried to make it as non-lovie-dovie as possible.) Without my Mom, I would not be studying music in the Netherlands today! She has helped me become the woman I am today. She has helped me to be fearless and adventurous. She has always supported me, and the decisions I make. When I was ten and wanted to play the viola she said, “Yes” and spent the next eight years paying for lessons, driving me to rehearsals, and attending my concerts. When I was twelve and wanted to join my first band she said, “Of course” and spent the next six years driving me to and from practice, gigs, and competitions. When I was fourteen and decided to be in every high school choir, orchestra, club, and organization imaginable she said, “Why not” and spent the next four years making it all possible for me. Without my Mamma, I would not be where I am today!

Thank you Mamma! I hope you enjoy! Sending you lots of love!
