Here's something for the anoraks! Spliced together from three different masters at three different speeds. The main instrument is that homemade low mbira that I bought in a street market in Italy. Man! It really hurts the thumbs -- basic design fault. Recorded in Totnes, Norwich and Crete -- with vocal overdubs at Leeder's Farm. Vocals Mae Karthorse and Darlini: mbira Alig. Some of the percussion is lifted from a remix I did for the excellent The Chap: Nevertheless (Loaf Records). An alternative version with just Darlini on vocals available from our website.

Variety uncovers more of Alig's bizarre, mind-bending arrangements, melodies and hook-strewn vocals, all seemingly thrown casually over a vast jumble of instruments and influences but engineered with precision and poise by the master of the unexpected.
