Chinese Folk Music - 中国民族音乐 - Chinese music has been made since the dawn of Chinese civilization with documents and artifacts providing evidence of a well-developed musical culture as early as the Zhou Dynasty (1122 BC -- 256 BC). Today, the music continues a rich traditional heritage in one aspect, while emerging into a more contemporary form at the same time. The music market in China was the 22nd largest in the world in 2011 and was worth US$82.8 million.

中國音樂，據目前的考古發現，中國音樂可追溯至9000多年前，禮樂制度被賦予維繫社會秩序的功能。音樂與人心情感間的關係受到很大的重視，《詩經》大序、《禮記・樂記》、《荀子・樂論篇》、《史記・樂書》等描述儒家思想認為音樂對人性具有教化啟迪的作用。同時從唐代的胡琴到近代的西方音樂，中國音樂又在吸收外來音樂要素的過程過不斷充實發展。
