In 2014 I started to know Andorra. She was staying on the stable I rode. She wasn't from the stable owner, but from a man who had a lot of horses just so they could get foals. Most of them were slaughter horses, so was Andorra. Andorra immediately took my attention, because she didn't want to eat, she was afraid. I visited her ones a week and after a couple weeks she recognized me and came as fast as she saw me. I asked her owner if he was okay with the fact that I visited his scared horse. He said that he was okay with it as long as I could 'make' her better. After a couple weeks she already changed a bit, she wasn't so afraid anymore but her owner told me that he didn't saw any changes. And that after she had her foal, she would go to the slaughterhause.. So he asked my mum to buy her. It was a really big step for us to make, we never really had an own horse so we didn't knew how to do anything. But my mum did, we got Andorra and moved stables on november 2nd. 2014. It was a small place at somebody's house with 3 other horses. At first it looked really nice and I started to train with Andorra. She never seen a saddle or something before, so I started to let her get used to a blanket and stuff. Those things went really nice, but lunging and groundwork never were her strongest things.. She had no attention for me and did her own thing. After 4 months we recognized that Andorra get barely food, she was getting thinner but she was pregnant so she had to get bigger intead of thinner.. So we moved back to the stables where I first met her. The first weeks were horrible.. Andorra didn't want to leave her box and when she did, it was a real FIGHT to get her into the fields. When that went a little better I started to get her used to a saddle, and a bitless bridle. That went AMAZING! Andorra never did anything wrong and I was very happy with it.. In may 2015 her foal came. It was a wonderful time.. After 2 months I started to 'ride' again. But that didn't went well.. Again she had 0,0 attention for me and did her own thing. Also lunging was more horrible then it already was.. Sometimes I cried so hard, I didn't know what to do anymore, it felt like she didn't want to do anything for me. But when her foal got sold in Oktober 2015, I started to take lessons. After only one lesson there was a BIG change, Andorra find out how to relax and had full attention for me! I was so happy! But at the stables where Andorra 'lived' were also riding lessons, so I had barely time to ride Andorra as much as she really needed. So we decided to move stables again in februar 2016. It was a big change, but because of a wound Andorra had on her legg I couldn't ride her for a couple weeks. But Andorra was VERY happy! She was allowed to get into the fields all day and had a lot of other horses around her. When I was able to ride again I started with groundwork and lunging. That when horrible again.. So i decided to ride as less as possible and focus on the groundwork and trust. It really helped! Andorra became so gentle and things went so well.. Also riding was like nothing really happened before. Just a happy horse living the good life..
