Unlike most contemporary drive pedals that use an array of clipping diodes to achieve their crunchiness, the Wise Guy is built differently. By using several cascading gain stages, the Wise Guy works just like a tube amp for a real amp-style transparent overdrive that doesn't cut any corners. The Wise Guy offers two distinct types of drive, accessible with a toggle switch. The first mode offers a low-to-medium gain OD with plenty of touch sensitivity and crunch when you dig in. This mode has superb volume-knob cleanup which occurs with a slight turn, and can easily be left on at all times. OD2 offers extra gain and harmonic content for with the same touch sensitivity and more sustain, like an amp pushed to the redline. The Wise Guy offers an all-in-one gain solution by offering a separate Boost footswitch. This mode can be used even when the overdrive circuit is in bypass, giving players a super-clean boost for solos, or as an always-on preamp. The overdrive circuit sits before the boost section when used in series, and the boost circuit alone offers a 15-decibel wallop. Engaging both circuits simultaneously unleashes an overdrive that fuses with your amp to bring out its inner werewolf.
