Nostrils - Poverty Soup - Video

DESCRIPTION:
The Nostrils formed in the summer of 1979 in Bruce Hallet's parents' basement and in no time at all were told to "take it outside." In November 1979 the Nostrils "auditioned" a drummer from St. James, the name of Scott Coats, in a friend's basement. He liked the songs, but didn't join because he wanted to join a Led Zepellin cover band and play in bars. That didn't pan out for Scotty, so he became a Nostril in December. They left their parents' homes and moved into the first of a series of places called "House of Noz." In July 1981 The Nostrils took off on their 1965 World Tour. After finally reaching Vancouver, they hit the Queen's celebration of the wedding of her inbred son to the future Princess Diana, where they helped themselves to some free cake. This was covered by the local rag, and later in MacLeans national rag. Upon return, their landlord wanted to convert the current House of Noz into six sub-divided living units for robot families. The Nostrils put up signs protesting their eviction, recruited several hundred rioters, set up the PA on their front porch, and instructed their roadies on bail procedures. Fortunately, cooler heads eventually prevailed and they hauled the gear to St. James Hall, where the Stretch Marks played their first show. The Nostrils split in late 1981, but reunited to play "The Last Movie" at the Downtowner in November 1982. The Downtowner was substantially destroyed.
