INSIDE METAL: THE LA METAL SCENE EXPLODES! 1982-1986.

By 1982 Britain's prominent musical force dubbed the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) was starting to lose momentum while at the same time influencing a burgeoning, more light-hearted metal movement clear across the globe that would literally take the world by storm! And by 1983, heavy metal music, in Los Angeles in particular, was a monumental powerhouse that was vindicated by the notorious 300,000 plus attended-US FESTIVAL "Heavy Metal Day," Motley Crue's Too Fast For Love debut topping Platinum sales and Quiet Riot's Metal Health reaching #1 on the Billboard Top 200 Charts as well as major label signings of future LA Metal luminaries Ratt, Great White, W.A.S.P., Armored Saint, Dokken, Black 'N Blue, Malice, and Rough Cutt, and of course the groundbreaking debut from LA born and bred thrash-metal Kings Metallica, 1983 was undoubtedly the Year In Metal, with Los Angeles as it's epicenter! This leather-laden phenomenon would soon dominate throughout the decade with combined record sales searing higher than any other musical genre.

But what led up to the L.A. Metal resurgence that superseded the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement in the UK a year or two prior? All this and much more is revealed in the second installment of this groundbreaking LA heavy metal trilogy INSIDE METAL -- The LA METAL SCENE EXPLODES! 1982 -- 1986. Picking up where the Pioneers of LA Rock and Metal (1975-1981) left off, this riveting documentary covers the vast surroundings of arguably the most fertile years of the Los Angeles metal scene with first-hand interviews and encounters from legendary Los Angeles based hard rock and metal artists, performers, industry execs and scenesters. From the onslaught of LA Metal signings to major labels and the birth of the indie metal labels (Metal Blade, Shrapnel, Megaforce, Roadrunner, Combat) to the classification of metal sub-genres and the legendary concert performances, the years from 1982 to 1986 were truly the formative years of heavy metal that redefined this underground and unconventional style of music as an art-form, thriving counterculture, and a force to be reckoned with!
