The Westfield Band Program provides excellence in fine arts education through its curriculum, which emphasizes soloistic performing skills, chamber music participation, concert contests, contemporary, free-form style marching, and performances in some of the finest facilities in the country. The instrumental music curriculum offers courses in band, advanced honors band, music theory and applied music.

The Symphonic Band has consistently ranked among the top five bands in the biennial Texas State Honor Band Competition having been one of only three schools inTexas to be named AAAAA Texas State Honor Band twice, in 1989 and 2001. The Symphonic Band has never received less than a Superior Rating, and has been named "Best in Class" at numerous competitions. In 1995, the Westfield Symphonic Band received the Sudler Flag of Honor from the John Philip Sousa Foundation.



The "Big Red Band" has placed in the top five bands at the Texas State Marching Contest each time it has qualified, including AAAAA State Championships in 1987, 1988, 1989, 1996 and 1998 as well as first runner-up in 1986, 1992and 1994. The marching band was named Bands of America Grand National Champion in2003 and placed second nationally in 1985, 1990 and 1995.



The Westfield Percussion Ensemblehas earned numerous honors at local, state and national contests including twice named Percussive Arts Society's International Call-of- Tapes Champions culminating in performances at the PASIC Conventions in Atlanta, Georgia in 1994 andNashville, Tennessee in 2002.



The Westfield Bands have performed in Carnegie Hall in New York City, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C., the Chicago Hiltonand Towers Grand Ballroom, Houston's Wortham Center Lyric Theater, the Morton H. Myerson Symphony Center in Dallas, the Lila Cockrell Theater in San Antonio, the Del Mar College Auditorium and the Bayfront Center Theater in Corpus Christi, Rice University's Stude Concert Hall, the University of Houston's Cullen Theater and Moores Opera House and The Medinah Temple in Chicago at the Bands of America National Concert Band Festival.

The Westfield Winter Guard has twelve (12) Texas Color Guard Circuit State Championships. The Winter Guard has also traveled to Dayton, Ohio and Phoenix, Arizona for the Winter Guard International World Championships. During the fall, the Winter Guard is part of the "Big Red Band"
