The Band



The Brazoswood High School Marching band is under the direction of Jim Koch with assistance from Brian Casey, Eric Harper and Sam Woodfield. The Brazoswood band has made the State Finals in both the UIL State Marching contest and the TMEA Honor band competition the last four years. They were the only band at the UIL state wind ensemble contest to have every performer on stage win an Outstanding Performer Medal in both 2000,2004 and 2006. The band has been a consistent finalist performer at Bands of America Regional and Super Regional competitions for the last six years.

2005- A Year in Review

2005 was a ground-breaking year for the Brazoswood Buc Band. An ancient myth was brought to life through music and marching as the Buc Band performed its production of Icarus by Key Poulan. Achievements include:



- Placing third and fifth (prelims and finals, respectively) at BOA Houston.



- Outstanding Music Awards (in both prelims and finals) at BOA Arlington, placing 7th



- Outstanding Music and General Effect (prelims and finals respectively) at Lone Star Preview as well as a Second place.



- The Buc Band received its 26th consecutive Division I at UIL Region Marching contest



- Placing 8th at the BOA San Antonio Super Regional



- Members of the Buc Jazz band took 20 of the 40 spots of the Region 17 Jazz Band



- Members of the Buc Band placed 21 students in the District band, 38 in the Region band and 14 the Area win ensemble



The Brazoswood Symphonic band placed 8th overallat the 5A TMEA State Honor Band competition, placing first in Region and tying first in Area.
