We are Nacional. We make music. We want to make you sad becuase we feel like that too sometimes. We want to make you happy because thats what everyone wants to be.

Since acquiring limbs this beat combo have flown far afield as showcasing at SXSW 2009 in Austin Texas, as well as playing much closer to home in fields and lesser established premises. Nacional have been featured by BBC Radio disc jockeys Steve Lamacq, Vic Galloway, Huw Stephens, Colin Murray, Tom Robinson and Jim Gellatly and have also been digitised on the wireless by many others including XFM and NME Radio. The Skinny, Art Rocker, NME and numerous British tabloids have also thrown their arms towards Nacional in loving fashion.

It takes some balls to go over 1 minute in a tune before the rest of the band kicks in, but on the Nacional's "On TV" it works to excellent effect; wondering, waiting, anticipation growing as singer Robert Armstrong talks about "bleeding on TV." When it does kick in it's all spiky cheeky angular guitar riffs that you can picture Ian Curtis jerking to and cheerfully glum delivery that sounds like it could have been produced decades ago and yet somehow sounds decidedly 'now.'

Vic Galloway, BBC Radio 1 & BBC Radio Scotland

"Following the insanely catchy debut 'Telephone', Glasgow-based but Yorkshire-fronted, Nacional are firing on all cylinders with a new single for the excellent 'Art Goes Pop' label. 'On TV' is an biting critique of reality shows and the public's current, obsessive quest for celebrity status at any cost. Musically, they recall indie stalwarts such as The Wedding Present and Joy Division with an intense, vocal melancholia set to driving guitars. I suggest you investigate, before they drop what promises to be an ace debut album."

Rough Trade

Nacional seem to derive their energy from the early to mid-eighties magic of bands like the june brides or the wedding present so therefore stand apart quite brightly from today's crop, and all the better for it with two sides of catchy, emotive indie that grab you instantly. Already being tipped by xfm and 6 music by the time you've read this it'll probably be sold out. Another limited 7" from the mighty art goes pop label.
