Uncle John's Band / Guitar Lesson and Chords (Grateful Dead) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Sep 20, 2012
DESCRIPTION:
When The Grateful Dead were asked by their record company to produce a more commercially-viable album and move away from psychedelia, this excellent song, among others, was the result.

The Dead's "American Beauty" album was inspired greatly by the harmonies of Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young. You can pretty much hear the direct influence in this song.

Technically, this song is not hard to play. Chords are not terribly tricky. However,. there are some quick changes in some parts.

I produced this lesson in two parts. Part 1 is some very basic stuff about strumming patterns, chord shapes, and a few riffs and is aimed at the guitar novice. Part 2 is an "at speed" demonstration of the song with chord notation on the screen.

As always, have fun and enjoy.
