The bells of Marton in Craven - Video
PUBLISHED:  May 07, 2011
DESCRIPTION:
The unusual sounding three bells of St Peter, Marton in Craven (AKA St Peter, Martons Both), as rung by members of the GTFU Society.

These three bells are hung in a lowside timber frame by C&G Mears, installed in 1849. The bells have timber canon retaining stocks, plain bearings, conventional stays and sliders, etc. The ropes fall in a semi-circle and have Yorkshire tail ends. Until 1981, the wheels and stocks were shot, so new ones were made locally.

These bells are tricky to handle as two are light set, and when the plain bearings are dry, the bells take a bit of pulling.
