DESCRIPTION:
An important bit of saxophone history was made this weekend in
St. Louis. A brand new saxophone concerto by one of today's most notable
composers, John Adams, made its St. Louis premiere Saturday and
Sunday evenings (Oct 5 & 6) at Powell Symphony Hall. World renown Concert
saxophonist, Timothy McAllister (http://www.timothymcallister.com) was the
the saxophone soloist. These performances were recorded and released as
the definitive archive of this piece and John Adams was in attendance.
I can't tell you how much of an honor it is that John Adams has chosen St.
Louis and our orchestra for this purpose. Its a testament to what Saint
Louis has to offer to the world of music!!!

Saxquest was also thrilled to present a clinic this Friday from 5-6PM at
the Saxquest Shop with Dr. McAllister. Tim has premiered many orchestral
pieces and new works of music for the saxophone and has worked
hand-in-hand with John Adams for several years. This is a
fantastic opportunity to hear and chat with a classical saxophone artist
of the highest caliber.
