DESCRIPTION:
The 2013 version of the annual Buddy Holly memorial event concluded with an all-star tribute on Saturday night, February 2. The nostalgic program featured familiar music and musicians from the 50s and 60s and a performance by Gary Busey commemorating the 35th anniversary of the 1978 movie THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY in which Busey starred as Holly. Legendary musicians included Peter Asher (Peter and Gordon), Jeffery Alan Ross (Badfinger), Denny Laine (Moody Blues & Wings), Terry Sylvester (The Swinging Blue Jeans & The Hollies), Albert Lee (The Crickets & The Everly Brothers), Eric Burdon (and the Animals), and Tommy Allsup. It was a fantastic night and well worth the easy 2 hour drive from Minneapolis down 35W to Clear Lake, Iowa - even in the snow!
