Hank C. Burnette - "My Rosalie" (instru version) - Video

DESCRIPTION:
I picked this song up from country artist Wynn Stewart's first Capitol album, 'The Songs of Wynn Stewart', released in 1965 and produced by Ken Nelson. I'd already fancied the songs he did on his previous album (and his 1st ever), 'Wynn Stewart', from 1962 on the Wrangler label, especially his selfpenned "Wishful Thinking" and Harlan Howard's "Above and Beyond" (later covered by Buck Owens), so I was quite familiar with his work already.
TRIVIA: Born Winford Lindsey Stewart on June 7, 1934 in Morrisville, Missouri, Wynn Stewart is undoubtedly most famous for his 1967 #1 Country Smash, "It's Such A Pretty World Today", but he was doing his thing already way back in the '50s doing rockabilly tunes like "Come On" (on the Jackpot label, a subsidiary to Challenge Records), "She Just Tears Me Up" and "Long Black Limousine". But in late 1958 he decided to stick to hard-core country. It was what he felt most strongly about. So in May, 1959, he cut "Above and Beyond", just to see Buck Owens' version score higher on the charts. But his time was lurking just around the corner! On Dec. 28, 1959 he released "Wishful Thinking". It was to become Wynn's biggest hit so far, spending 22 weeks on the charts and peaking at #5. And, the rest is history, as they say...

The reason that I personally recorded some of his songs, incl. "My Rosalie" (or "My Rosalee" as it was printed on the first batch of records leaving the pressing plant!), was that most all of them had a pretty catchy hook and pretty unforgettable melody lines to boot. As you no doubt will remember, I've already uploaded a vocal version of this song six years ago, but this is a real old instrumental version of it! Written by one H. Howell and recorded in my humble home made makeshift garage 'studio' during the late '60s/early '70s, here's "My Rosalie"! Hope you enjoy. Hank C...
