This White Oak, planted next to the Cheney Homestead in Manchester, Connecticut, was one of the second generation Charter Oak saplings offered to every town in Connecticut by the State Forestry Bureau in 1976 to commemorate the National Bicentennial. All the acorns for the 1976 trees were collected from either the Foot Guard Oak or the Hoadley Oak, both found in Bushnell Park, Hartford, Connecticut
