Thanks to some excellent detective work by Numero Records for their Bandit label retrospective in their Eccentric Soul series, and a follow up article by the Chicago Reader, we know that the members of The Arrows were Johnny Davis, his wife Linda, his sister Mary Ann, and Po' Boy Stevenson. It's Johnny Davis' incredible, raw baritone lead on this classic piece of Chicago Deep Soul.

Bandit was owned and run by Arrow Brown, and he persuaded Marshall Thompson of the Chi-lites to play drums on this track.

The Arrows broke up after the mysterious death of Johnny Davis who was found in a dumpster in early 1973, having fallen a dozen stories off a roof. Although there was an investigation by the police the results were inconclusive and his death remains a mystery, but he left us with this fantastic musical treasure.
