“I’m a Star in the Street, baby!!!” That’s one of Suge White’s favorite mottos. If you walk into any mixtape store in NYC you’re going to see numerous Suge White CDs and DVDs. If a bootlegger runs up to you in a Burger King trying to sell you photocopied CDs and you sift through, you’ll see Suge White all through that pile. This doesn’t only go for NYC. Suge’s distribution reaches all across the country as well as to London, Germany, and Japan. And if you think it’s just the streets you’re wrong too. If you Google “SUGE WHITE” you’ll get pages upon pages of places where you can download or order his mixtapes and DVDs.

Suge White has only been putting out solo mixtapes for two years now and he is recognized as one of the top contenders in the mixtape game. However, many don’t know this but Suge has been in the game a lot longer than that. He grew up wanting a career in the music industry. In the 90’s he ran with a group known as “Yaru.” He was their engineer/DJ/manager. Suge took 4yrs away from his team to go to college and get his Bachelors in Music Business and a Minor in Audio Production. Now with a life long of street education combined with his degree, no one could stop him. As soon as he returned to the team, he organized shows, opening up for acts such as Das EFX, Dead Prez, Don Chezina, etc. In 2001 “Yaru” won a nationwide talent search for Ruff Ryders. They went into the studio wit Swizz Beatz and recorded some bangers. After some promises weren’t made they parted ways with Ruff Ryders. Shortly after 2 of the members of Yaru got incarcerated forcing everyone to go separate ways.

Soon after Suge got a job in the sales and marketing department of TVT Records home of Lil Jon. There Suge met one or the A&R’s of TVT, Jason Mazur, and they started there own label, “Jail Break Recordz.” Suge is still Co-CEO of Jail Break to this day along with Mazur and life long friend Logic.

Jail Break Recordz put out mixtapes with Capone of Capone n Noreaga, PMD of EPMD, Jean Grae of Talib Kweli’s Blacksmith label, 40 Cal and A Mafia of Dipset, Shiest Bubz and Agallah of Dipset’s Purple City, Stat Quo, 40 Glocc of G-Unit/Infamous, Paul Wall, Pitbull, Maino, Chingo Bling, J Hood and the list goes on. These mixtape were a promotional tool to push their artists Logic, Tony Pacasso and the recently incarcerated Da Real Verble Kent.

Suge was then introduced to Mike Beck of K.A.R. (Kill All Rats). K.A.R. is owned by Pistol Pete from Fat Joe’s Terror Squad. Mike was feeling Suge’s grind so he made him K.A.R.’s DJ. Suge’s first year he put out 44 mixtapes and 6 DVDs. He was nominated in the 2007 Justo’s for Rookie of the Year and the 2008 SEA Awards for the Hottest Reggae Mixtape out, “Original Shottas pt 2”. Suge has bleseed MTV Mixtape Mondays numerous times for the hottest mixtapes out and has been featured on BET’s Rap City. He has done collabs with DJ Kay Slay, Big Mike, DJ Enuff, Kochece, Streetsweepers DJ Scope, Rick Gonzalez the actor from the hit movies “Illegal Tender, Coach Carter, Pride and Glory”, Dipsets’ S.A.S, Fat Joe etc. He has DJ’d shows with Mike Beck opening for acts like Don Omar, Tego Calderon, etc. K.A.R as a group is signed to KOCH Records. Their album hits stores in February ’09 titled “Joey Crack & Pistol Pete presents K.A.R,” executive produced by Fat Joe featuring guest appearances from Sheek Louch, Jadakiss, Styles P, Raekwon, Fat Joe, DJ Khaled, Cool n Dre, etc. Be sure to check Suge on Tour with K.A.R.

As 2009 comes in Suge and Mike Beck are going hard with their new movement “HEAVY BANK.” Heavy Bank’s roster includes the hit producer Mizzle Boy aka J Mizzle best know for his production on “Pop Bottles” ft. Lil Wayne and Baby and “Crackhouse” ft. Fat Joe and Lil Wayne, Rock Redd aka Lidu Rock from Bootcamp Clik’s The Representativz, Milly, Money, and Wapo.
