Railroad Gin : Ruby Tuesday (EP version) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jun 26, 2015
DESCRIPTION:
Brisbane based band Railroad Gin are described by Ian McFarlane in his Dictionary Of Australian Rock And Pop thus: " During the mid-1970s... Railroad Gin was the premier rock attraction on the Queensland pub/club/concert circuit. The band enjoyed #1 hit singles in its hometown, but was virtually ignored in all other States. Originally formed in the late 1960s, Railroad Gin made an impact with its sweaty, full-tilt gigs and a commercial blend of soul, brassy R&B and percussion driven hard rock."

The band's very first recording, however, was an EP based on the "Rock Mass For Life" presented at St John's Cathedral, Brisbane on May 26 1974 (in association with the Queensland Festival Of The Arts), in which Railroad Gin played a major musical part. Obviously, most songs were religious in nature, but they also recorded this Rolling Stones song for the EP, and then re-recorded it later the same year for their debut album "A Matter Of Time".

As the cover to the booklet for the event shows, even at a rock mass, singer Carol Lloyd was being singled out as a strong focal point.
