DESCRIPTION:
Livio Lupi da Caravaggio: Ballo detta Alta Carretta, ("Il Libro di gagliarda...", 1607)
Fabritio Caroso: Laura Soave ("Nobilita di Dame", 1600)

These are two closely similar renaissance dances from around 1600, merged together into a single tune.

The first one is extracted from a theoretical treatise on dance music by Livio Lupi da Caravaggio -- no relation to the painter, except that they were contemporaries and both named after the town of Caravaggio near Milan. However, this gave me the excuse to use Caravaggio paintings for the slide show.

The second one is by Fabritio Caroso, one of the main sources of Italian renaissance dances.
