This week's phrase comes to you via Jimmy Cobb. Jimmy is known for having one of the most swingin ride cymbal beats on the planet, but he is also a great soloist. Check out this short phrase off of Wes Montgomery's "Smokin' at the Half Note." He plays it in the 3rd bar of his 2nd set of 8's on "Four on Six." (That's a lot of numbers...)

I show you two stickings. Kick both of them around and see what fits best. I use both of them, depending on the tempo and the variation.
